Jacobs is seeking a Laboratory and Compliance Coordinator based in Prescott Valley, AZ. You’ll work with project staff to assist in overseeing the laboratory and sampling operations activities for a Wastewater Treatment Plant, Collections System, Reclaimed Water System, and Water Production department to provide superior client service, ensure timely completion of all activities, effectively schedule work to drive optimized resource utilization, establish and maintaining efficient progress metrics and tracking tool and provide technical support as needed. You will be responsible for maintaining system compliance with all State and Federal Regulations and Permits. The Compliance Coordinator oversees the compliance laboratory, manages sampling requirements, and implements protocols to maintain permit compliance. This position requires strong analytical skills, meticulous record-keeping, attention to detail, and the ability to manage schedules and organize workflows effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and permit requirements.
• Familiarity with AZDHS, APP, AZPDES, MSGP and IPP permitting and sampling requirements.
• Oversees and manages the water and wastewater compliance laboratory, including performing tests as needed.
• Conducts chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological analyses of potable water, wastewater influent and effluent, soils, biosolids, and industrial wastes and makes evaluative conclusions.
• Trains new employees in laboratory analysis, sampling techniques, and standard procedures.
• Implements and maintains a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) program; identifies and resolves issues promptly.
• Assists with industrial pretreatment sampling and inspection programs.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment such as pH meters, balances, autoclaves, titrators, incubators, spectrophotometers, and related instruments.
• Coordinates sampling and analysis with outside contract laboratories, including managing inventory, documentation, and keeping an inventory of appropriate sampling needs (sampling equipment, sample containers, shipping coolers, chain of custody, sample storage, and preservation)
• Prepares and maintains accurate compliance and non-compliance reports, records, and data entry for all monitoring, control, and compliance activities.
• Advises senior staff on test results and recommends improvements to laboratory procedures.
• Assists with budgeting, inventory control, and laboratory maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ADEQ Grade II Water Treatment and Grade II Wastewater Treatment certifications, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Combination of education and experience in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
• Valid driver’s license.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• Five years of experience performing chemical analysis and related tests, including multiple years in a wastewater treatment laboratory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, WIMS, Outlook, and laboratory management systems.
• Knowledge of:
• Principles of chemistry, biology, and related sciences.
• Methods of chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological testing and analysis.
• Laboratory safety, equipment care, and maintenance.
• Supervisory and training practices.
