Edward Jones Associate Relations Performance Management Specialist in Tempe, Arizona

Position Schedule: Full-Time

Serves as the expert advisor and consultant to all levels of leadership, including Directors and General Partners, on performance management matters for all Home Office and Client Support Team Member positions at the firm spanning two countries (US and Canada). Some of these performance management matters will be highly complex, sensitive, and not of a routine nature. The Performance Management Specialist role is responsible for producing high quality results that are communicated skillfully to mitigate risk to the firm. Leverages analytics and insights to recognize case trends and collaborates across internal Centers of Excellence and Business Human Capital to inform and influence systemic solutions which enable the firm's strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

Acts autonomously in leading, guiding, directing and influencing firm Leaders and Associates through a broad spectrum of multifaceted interpersonal, business, and leadership challenges associated with performance management. Assessing and determining appropriate action based on the investigation of facts, circumstances, and input from all involved parties.

  1. Provides decisions and advises leaders how to execute outcomes, ranging from coaching, up to and including separation of employment. Has primary responsibility for delivering termination and disciplinary action outcomes directly to firm associates and leaders.

  2. Assists department leadership with the training and development of new Performance Management Specialist through onboarding, training and coaching on the responsibilities and skills of the position.

  3. Promotes and enables a fair and inclusive workplace. Represents Edward Jones culture and core values while also mitigating legal; federal, state, Provincial, and/or municipal employment law; business; financial; regulatory; reputational; and associate experience risks.

  4. Responsible for constant and reliable evaluation of facts and circumstances, weighed against prior precedent and ever-changing employment laws in both the US and Canada, to create consistency and mitigate risk to the firm.

  5. Manages and resolves complex performance management issues that are escalated by other COEs (Center of Excellence) (i.e., Compliance, Leaves/ADA, Business Human Capital, Public Relations, Managing Partners Office, Associate Relations, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion).

  6. Advises and collaborates with external entities and internal functions including but not limited to: Legal (internal and external counsel), Associate Relations, Compliance, COEs , Business Leaders, Global Security and Local Law Enforcement, Regional Leadership and Divisional HR, EAP (Employee Assistance Program), and vendors.

  7. Collaborates with leadership to set performance management strategy with their teams that creates a place of belonging at the firm for associates throughout their career lifecycle.

  8. Demonstrates continuous improvement by constantly evaluating processes, practices, and procedures to increase efficiencies or further mitigate risk to the firm. Participates in post-event debriefs, utilizing root cause analysis to evaluate how processes, procedures, communication and outcomes can be improved in the future.

  9. Responsible for initiating the regular review of data to identify trends and possible proactive strategies that reduce occurrences and produce better outcomes when relevant.

Hiring Minimum: $74600

Hiring Maximum: $122800

  • Skills/Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Education: bachelor's degree and/or 3+ years of experience

  • Minimum Experience: 3 Years

  • Other Specific Qualifications Required for the Job:

  • Three years of experience in HR position with two years directly involved in coaching, performance management and/or leadership

  • PHR/PHR/SPHR certification preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of US and Canadian employment law preferred

*Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.*

Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status . Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
