Honeywell Advanced Network Security Engineer in Tempe, Arizona
The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of perimeter security services across global data centers and cloud environments. This role focuses on firewall, proxy, and zero-trust solutions, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity while proactively identifying risks and driving improvements.
You will act as a key technical resource, collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and support ongoing infrastructure initiatives, including coordination with teams supporting Operational Technology (OT) environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support perimeter security technologies, including firewalls, proxies, and zero-trust platforms across on-prem and cloud environments
Administer and optimize solutions from key vendors such as Check Point (firewalls) and Zscaler (zero trust / proxy)
Install, configure, and maintain network security hardware and software
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of services
Contribute to infrastructure projects, including design, deployment, and optimization of security solutions
Proactively identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities; propose and implement solutions
Maintain accurate documentation (architecture diagrams, procedures, runbooks)
Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including coordination with OT security teams where network and industrial environments intersect
Provide support for service requests and incidents, and participate in on-call rotation
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, with a strong focus on network security
Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall technologies, preferably Check Point
Experience with secure web gateway / zero trust platforms, preferably Zscaler
Experience designing and deploying firewall solutions in data center environments (3+ years)
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or VMware NSX (2+ years)
Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs)
Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills
WE VALUE
Experience supporting or collaborating with OT (Operational Technology) or industrial network environments
Experience working in global or multi-data center environments
Familiarity with infrastructure documentation and standard operational processes
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience with automation or scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
Exposure to security frameworks and best practices
Relevant certifications (e.g., Check Point, Zscaler, CCNP Security, CISSP)
