Labcorp Lab Services Supervisor - Anatomic Pathology in Tampa, Florida
Labcorp is seeking a Lab Supervisor to join our Anatomic Cytoprep and Histology team in Tampa, FL .
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (8a – 5p); flexibility required
Job Responsibilities
Supervise the day to day operations of the Cytoprep and Histology teams within the Anatomic Pathology department including customer service/support services
Responsible for problem management, client communication, etc.
Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory and non-technical personnel of the department
Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverage
Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
Perform administrative duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
5 years of experience or more as a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician
FL Supervisor license
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
Histology and/or ASCP certifications
Additional Job Standards
In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask along with strong communication and organizational skills
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
