About the role

As a Software Engineering Team Lead (Frontend) at Wallester AS, you will be responsible for leading and growing a team of frontend engineers while remaining technically involved in the development of our web applications.

You will plan, organize, and guide frontend engineering work, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and alignment with product and business goals. You will act as a bridge between the engineering team, product managers, designers, and senior leadership, while continuously improving frontend practices, processes, and team culture.

This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and hands-on contribution.

    What you'll do

  • Shared Design System: Oversee the development of a unified UI Kit. Ensure cross-platform teams doesn't duplicate frontend code.

  • Microfrontend Strategy: Define and maintain the Shell/Host application architecture with separated deployment flow.

  • Performance & Security: Set security standards (CSP, Dependency scanning) that every team must follow.

  • CI/CD & Tooling: Standardize the build-and-deploy pipeline. A frontend developer should be able to move from one team to another and find the same linting, testing, and deployment patterns.

  • Tech Radar: Evaluate new libraries and frameworks, the final "gatekeeper" for adding new heavy dependencies to the global bundle.

    What you'll need

  • 5+ years of professional experience in frontend or full-stack software development

  • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring software engineers

  • Strong expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript

  • Extensive experience building and maintaining production-grade React applications

  • Experience designing frontend architectures and state management solutions

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and frontend–backend integration

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working in agile development environments (Scrum)

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

    Nice to have

  • Experience with modern frontend build tools and bundlers

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes

  • Strong experience with frontend testing strategies

  • Experience working with internationalization and localization

  • Experience in fintech or other regulated environments

  • Knowledge of frontend security standards and best practices
