Responsibilities:

  1. Partner Due Diligence & Reliance Assessment
  • Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence (CDD, EDD, OEDD) on partners operating under the reliance model.

  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of partners' AML/CFT, sanctions, governance and reporting frameworks.

  • Evaluate partners' operational capacity, internal controls, staffing model and risk management arrangements.

  • Review partners' policies, procedures and control evidence to ensure they meet regulatory and reliance requirements.

  • Perform periodic reviews of high-risk partners and document risk assessments in line with internal methodology.

  • Identify deficiencies, request remediation plans, and monitor implementation of corrective actions.

    1. Risk Assessment & Monitoring (Operational)
  • Assess, in the context of Wallester's risk appetite, the AML/CFT and sanctions risks associated with partners, products, and business models.

  • Evaluate risks arising from new partner onboarding or material changes to existing partnerships.

  • Conduct continuous monitoring of high-risk partner relationships.

  • Escalate material concerns, suspicious activity indicators, or control failures to the second line of defence in accordance with internal escalation procedures.

  1. Information Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage directly with partners via remote channels to obtain documentation, clarifications and updates relating to AML controls and customer due diligence processes.

  • Maintain regular contact with internal relationship managers and business stakeholders to ensure an accurate understanding of partner activity and risk exposure.

  • Collaborate closely with AML Investigations, Financial Crime Risk & Intelligence, and Compliance teams to address identified risks.

    1. Payment Scheme & Regulatory Awareness (Operational Impact)
  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments and payment scheme rule changes to assess operational impact on partner due diligence requirements.

  • Assess how regulatory or scheme changes affect reliance arrangements and escalate where framework amendments are required.

  • Support the implementation of operational changes necessary to maintain compliant reliance structures.

  1. Documentation & Control Evidence
  • Maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready documentation of all partner due diligence activities and risk assessments.

  • Ensure decision-making rationale is clearly recorded and explainable.

  • Contribute to internal reporting by providing accurate data and analysis relating to partner risk exposure.

    1. Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to enhancing partner due diligence methodologies and risk assessment tools.

  • Participate in training and stay up to date on AML/CFT, sanctions, and reliance-model best practices.

  • Support the refinement of internal procedures to strengthen first-line risk ownership.

    Requirements:

  • A higher education degree in Economics, Business Management, Finance, Law, or a related field is preferred.

  • Professional certifications by ACAMS or ICA are advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT and sanctions regulations within a fintech or payments environment.

  • Experience assessing third-party or partner AML frameworks.

  • Understanding of reliance models under EU/UK AML regulatory regimes.

  • Ability to critically analyse complex documentation and control structures.

  • Strong risk assessment and documentation skills.

  • Clear communication and stakeholder management capability.

  • High level of professional scepticism and analytical judgement.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
