Job Summary
Performs diversified and complex tasks associated with tool fabrication/Machining required in the development of composite components, assemblies, bonded parts and other miscellaneous accessories. The Tool Maker Machinist will support operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem-solving skills. They will deliver robust, capable process techn ology as it applies to both materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
Recommend design changes to manufacturing operations
Work with manufacturing and engineering personnel to resolve technical tooling issues
Develop new types and methods of tooling
Use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
Knowledge of welding practices and equipment (MIG, stick, torch, brazing; TIG desirable)
Knowledge of manual and CNC machining setup, safety, and practices
Troubleshoot tooling failures independently
Create or modify simple tooling sketches for engineering review
Intermediate GD&T interpretation
Understanding of heat‑treating basics
Participate in and sometimes lead root cause and corrective action activities
Understand cost drivers in tooling design and repair
Maintain integrity within processes and documentation
Contribute to process improvement and cost reduction
Be well‑versed in shop floor processes and flow
Work effectively cross‑functionally to solve problems
Work in different areas as needed
Maintain working knowledge of customer specifications
Mentor Tool Maker 1 and 2 employees
Job Qualifications
Manual & CNC Machining Experience
Familiar with Composite Tool Manufacturing
U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance
