PCB Signal/Power Integrity Engineer

Meet the Team

You'll be part of the Component Quality & Technology (CQT) within the Global Supplier Management (GSM) organization in Cisco’s Supply Chain Organization. CQT is a key hub of technical innovation in Cisco. Members of the organization focus on evaluating and developing new technologies to enable sustained product differentiation. You will be a part of a diverse team that seamlessly blends different levels of expertise in several areas of semiconductor and systems design combining traditional knowledge with groundbreaking data analytics techniques to tackle increasingly sophisticated problems. You will regularly engage with Cisco Business Units as your partners, Suppliers of the commodity space you are managing, and extended Supply Chain functions including Global Supply Management, Product Operations and Global Manufacturing Organization.

Your Impact

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a strong Signal/Power Integrity background in Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for the design and analysis of high-speed interconnects. In this role, you will collaborate with various Cisco teams and industry partners to help develop next-generation PCB Signal/Power Integrity solutions and ensure these solutions meet Cisco’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Cisco development engineers, commodity teams, and suppliers to create innovative PCB Signal/Power Integrity solutions

  • Contribute to the development of PCB material and Signal/Power Integrity strategy

  • Perform the signal integrity analysis of PCB designs. Write signal integrity test plans and test reports

  • Qualify PCB material, stack-up, Cu foil, pretreatment chemical for SI requirement, and work with supplier to address any DFM (Design for Manufacturability) SI/PI issues

  • Drive the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of advanced SI/PI methodologies across PCB suppliers

  • Contribute to the overall SI/PI technology roadmap, evaluating new tools, techniques, and design approaches to maintain a competitive edge

  • Lead comprehensive SI/PI design reviews, providing expert guidance and ensuring adherence to stringent performance and reliability targets

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, plus 15+ years PCB industry experience

  • Strong understanding of EE fundamentals, EM theory, and coupling mechanisms

  • Strong understanding of transmission line theory, simulation, channel modeling, and signal integrity concepts

  • Strong lab skills and measurement experience (VNA, TDR, & Scopes)

  • Solid understanding and direct experience for SI/PI in PCB design, material, manufacturing, and testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong tools knowledge with tools such as HFSS, ADS, MATLAB, Cadence PowerSI/DC, Allegro, Simbeor, and HSpice.

  • Proficiency with 3-D field solvers and PI (Power Integrity) simulation tools such as PowerSI/DC.

  • Self-motivation, collaboration, strong communication, and a desire to innovate are important.

  • Working experience with high-speed NRZ and PAM4 SerDes, as well as high-speed PCB development and SI/PI analysis, is a plus.

  • Knowledge of optical transceiver module types, form factors, and requirements.
