Position Summary
The Senior Data Analyst is a key contributor within the GBS Technology Solutions and BI team, responsible for delivering high‑quality, scalable analytics and reporting solutions that support data‑driven decision‑making across the business.
Aligned with the GBS mission, this role focuses on continuous improvement, innovation, and productivity enhancement by transforming data into actionable insight. The Senior Data Analyst combines advanced analytics expertise with strong Power BI development skills and a practical understanding of modern data platforms, for example Microsoft Fabric.
The role partners closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, and IT teams to ensure analytics solutions are adaptable, scalable, and aligned to enterprise standards, while maintaining a strong focus on reliability, data quality, governance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics & Business Partnership
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and deliver insights that exceed customer expectations.
Translate complex business questions into clear analytical approaches and scalable data solutions.
Perform advanced analysis across multiple data domains to identify performance trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Present insights with clear narratives that drive action, productivity improvements, and measurable outcomes.
Power BI & Insight Products
Design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade Power BI solutions, including datasets, semantic models, reports, and dashboards.
Develop robust DAX calculations, Power Query transformations, and data models that support consistent, trustworthy reporting.
Apply strong visual design and user experience principles to ensure insights are easy to consume and widely adopted.
Enable reuse and consistency through shared datasets, certified models, and governed workspace structures.
Use advanced Excel functionality such as Power Query, PivotTables, complex formulas, and structured models to analyse and validate data.
Leverage Excel as a complementary tool to Power BI for deep‑dive analysis, rapid prototyping, and stakeholder‑specific outputs.
Data Engineering & Modern Analytics Platforms
Contribute to the design and development of analytics‑ready data pipelines and curated datasets.
Work with data across data warehouses, lakehouses, and operational systems.
Leverage Microsoft Fabric capabilities (e.g. Lakehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks) to support end‑to‑end analytics solutions.
Partner with data engineering teams to ensure data solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with enterprise architecture.
Quality, Governance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and traceability within all analytical deliverables.
Document data definitions, transformations, and assumptions to support transparency and audit readiness.
Identify opportunities to automate reporting, simplify workflows, reducing manual manipulation and cost while maintaining or exceeding established KPIs.
Contribute to the development and adoption of analytics standards, best practices, and reusable assets across GBS.
Collaboration & Leadership
Act as a trusted analytics partner across functions and geographies.
Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior analysts and report authors.
Foster a collaborative, improvement‑focused culture aligned with the GBS mission and vision.
Education / Experience / Skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/scientific discipline (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, or similar).
5+ years of progressive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles.
Strong hands‑on experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power BI.
Proven experience working with complex datasets and translating business requirements into scalable and automated analytics solutions.
Experience working in global, matrixed, or regulated environments.
Preferred
Master's Degree or MBA
Experience contributing to data platform or analytics transformation initiatives.
Practical experience using Databricks, Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric in a production environment.
Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery methodologies
Technical Skills
Power BI development (semantic models, DAX, Power Query).
Advanced Microsoft Excel (analytical modelling, Power Query, PivotTables, data validation and reconciliation).
Strong SQL and relational data modelling skills.
Experience working with modern data platforms (data warehouses, lakehouses).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric concepts and tooling.
Experience with Python or similar languages for data analysis or automation is an advantage.
Strong data visualization and storytelling capability.
