Responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES:
Receive and review prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices.
Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Attend the dispensing window for pick up.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Immunization screening will be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 15 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing two or more of the following: receiving and reviewing prescriptions using pharmacy computer systems; determining type of substance, strength or dosage and quantity to be dispensed; utilizing automated pharmacy systems to enter and retrieve data; assisting customers in medication pick up or drop off; and providing basic instruction to patients on use of medication. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
