Description The Director of Safety is a member of Husky Terminal's Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading comprehensive safety, risk management, and emergency preparedness programs across all terminal operations. This role serves as the primary safety business partner and subject matter expert for marine terminal safety, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and maritime regulatory requirements while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture in complex, high-hazard, 24/7 port operations. This role requires a results-driven leader who demonstrates initiative, confidence, and a strong sense of urgency in achieving safety and operational objectives. The Director of Safety must be able to make timely decisions, solve complex problems, and lead safety initiatives in a fast-paced, high-risk operational environment. Success in this role requires the ability to adapt to changing conditions, balance multiple priorities, influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and inspire a shared commitment to safety and operational excellence. Quick Facts Compensation: $146,800 to $211,400, target range $150,000 - $180,000, annually, depending on experience Working hours: Full-time, Salary, on-site Reports to: Head of Human Resources Industry: Marine Terminal Job Functions: Safety What You'll Do Lead and execute company-wide safety strategy, programs, and initiatives Ensure compliance with OSHA, USCG, EPA, and maritime regulations Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions Drive emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response coordination Partner with leadership, Operations, HR, and represented workforce (ILWU and IAM) to promote a strong safety culture Develop and deliver safety training, meetings, and awareness initiatives Conduct safety audits and inspections; enforce standards and stop unsafe work when needed Analyze safety data, track trends, and provide insights to leadership Manage safety budget, resources, and equipment needs Build relationships with external agencies and represent the company in industry forums Position requirements Thank you for your interest in our Director of Safety role.
