American Tower Principal, Database Engineer in SÃO PAULO, Brazil

The Team

We are seeking a Principal Database Engineer to join American Tower’s Information Technology team. The IT team delivers quality software solutions that provide measurable business value. Day to day you will lead all aspects of the design, development, and delivery of database, business intelligence, data warehouse, and data integration solutions. As a Principal Database Engineer, you will partner cross-functionally to provide expert technical knowledge and leadership guidance during design, development, and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least 10 years of related experience, or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 8 years of experience required.

  • Minimum 6 years of relational database, ETL, data warehouse, and business intelligence (design, data modeling, development or architecture) experience required.

  • Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, and/or SVN experience required.

  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms required:

  • Database Platform:

  • Proficient with SQL and PL/SQL programming language;

  • Experience with a data modeling tool;

  • Extensive experience with data warehouse architecture, data modeling, design, implementation, and concepts (Kimball methodology, star or snowflake schemas, semantic layer design, etc.);

  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Database, 2005 and greater;

  • Experience with Oracle 10g databases and greater and SQL Developer;

  • Experience writing complex stored procedures preferred;

  • Experience with tuning relational databases preferred; and

  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate and data replication applications.

  • Oracle Data Integrator Platform:

  • Proficient in designing and developing complex near real-time and/or batch data integration solutions using ODI Studio;

  • Proficient in managing, administering, and modeling using Topology and ODI models;

  • Proficient with exporting and importing objects from one environment to another;

  • Proficient in scheduling and monitoring operators and logs;

  • Proficient in tuning load plans and batch jobs;

  • Proficient in error handling within package flows;

  • Knowledge of Master and Work Repositories;

  • Experience with customizing Knowledge Modules; and

  • Experience with security and permissions within ODI.

  • Business Intelligence Platform

  • OBIEE Repository Development or equivalent Enterprise BI Tool Metadata development experience;

  • Experience creating the Physical, Business, and Presentation layer of Enterprise BI platform metadata;

  • Experience administering native BI security (if with an Active Directory Service and conformed enterprise model) preferred; and

  • Experience using OBIEE Enterprise Manager to perform server- and environmental-level changes to console configuration.

  • Approximately 10% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Audit and review performance metrics for new and existing data integration solutions and database queries to ensure adherence to service level agreements as well as system health.
