Your role and responsibilities
As a SW Premium Support Professional for IBM DB2 LUW and PostgreSQL, you will be part of a team that provides technical support to dedicated IBM clients assisting on problem determination, corrective actions and recommendation, collaborating with the customer as well as other IBM teams globally to drive problems to a solution, improving Database availability, mitigating issues and aggregating resilience to the environment.
You will be responsible for recommending and implementing new improvements to the environment reviewing procedures and processes to improve reliability, uptime, and serviceability. You should exhibit strong problem-solving skills, a desire to face new and unique challenges each day, and strong communication skills.
Required technical and professional expertise
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Science, or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
Acting in a respectful and professional manner to represent IBM to its high-profile clients.
Working in high pressure, dynamic situations with a large degree of autonomy.

Experience in administration and support for products: PostgreSQL & IBM DB2 LUW

Database Fundamentals
Relational database theory (normalization, ACID, isolation levels)
SQL (advanced joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions)
Transaction management and locking concepts
Indexing strategies and query optimization
Capacity planning and growth forecasting
Database maintenance
Database upgrade
Backup, Recovery & HA
Backup/restore strategies (full, incremental, point-in-time)
Disaster recovery concepts (RPO/RTO)
Replication
Failover testing and documentation
Troubleshooting and debug
Experience in database troubleshooting
Lock and deadlock analysis
Corruption and object inconsistency
