This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) position
The Native/Indigenous Admissions Specialist will support the Office of Admissions in promoting Onondaga Community College to prospective Native/Indigenous students and families. The role is ideal for a student who is passionate about higher education, enjoys engaging with people, and wants hands-on experience and recruitment processes.
Responsibilities May Include:
Assist in planning campus tours, open houses, Center for Native/Indigenous Students Tours, OCC Haudenosaunee Arts Fest and other recruitment events.
Serve as a tour guide and along with Native/Indigenous Admissions Coordinator provide campus tours to prospective Native/Indigenous Students and families.
Assist in responding to prospective student inquiries via email, phone and in person.
Support data entry filing, and other administrative tasks related to prospective student records.
Help prepare admission materials such as packets, brochures and mailings.
Contribute to social media and digital outreach methods.
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Must have a valid FAFSA (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) on file
Must have a financial need, as demonstrated by the FAFSA
Must be matriculated into a program
Attending at least half-time (6 credit hours)
Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program
Current student in good standing at OCC
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable speaking to groups
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry
Passion for promoting higher education and student success
Knowledge of Haudenosaunee Culture and Traditions
Knowledge of Haudenosaunee languages are a plus.
Additional Information:
Pay Rate: Starting rate of $16.00 for new Federal Work Studies.
Starting rate of $17.00 for returning Federal Work StudiesHours of Operations: Monday-Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm

Federal Work Study may work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session.
