Crouse Hospital Health Unit Coordinator - Neurosciences in Syracuse, New York

Crouse’s 36-bed Neuroscience Unit is hiring a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) who is responsible for providing clerical and receptionist support.

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) Position Responsibilities:

  • Effectively assists with processing patient admission, transfer and discharge documentation.

  • Answers telephone and email inquiries in a polite and professional manner; refers all calls to appropriate person, takes and relays detailed messages in a timely manner (when necessary).

  • Greets and welcomes visitors/patients to the department in a courteous manner and assists with providing relevant information and directives.

  • Proactively communicates with department leadership to keep them informed of department activities, and alerts them of problems, when necessary.

  • Actively participates in special department and/or hospital projects, as needed.

  • Accurately inputs charges in the computer system; enters electronic work orders as needed.

  • Prepares, processes and maintains charts for all patients ensuring the inclusion of all necessary forms and health information data.

  • Maintains inventory of clerical and materials management supplies for the department.

  • Effectively facilitates patient transfer requests in an organized and timely fashion.

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
