The position requires extensive travel, strong project management skills, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Manage multiple environmental investigation and remediation projects, including groundwater, soil, and vapor studies, from planning through execution and closeout.
Travel frequently to several Superfund sites across Upstate New York to oversee day-to-day project activities and ensure field work aligns with project plans and specifications.
Lead and facilitate daily safety meetings, reinforce safety protocols, and promote a strong safety culture on all project sites.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and technical specifications to guide field operations and construction activities.
Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for environmental and construction-related tasks.

Coordinate and ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations throughout project execution.
Review Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and prepare clear, accurate reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and project stakeholders.
Analyze environmental data from groundwater, soil, and vapor investigations to support decision-making and remediation design.
Guide and supervise field staff, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring work follows project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Support environmental construction and decontamination activities, including remediation, in situ stabilization, and related civil and environmental construction work.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and environmental compliance personnel, to achieve project objectives on time and within scope.
Utilize construction management platforms such as ACC, Procore, or similar tools to track project progress, documentation, and communication.
Prepare and contribute to technical reports, project documentation, and client and regulatory submittals with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Apply knowledge of in situ stabilization (ISS) processes to support planning and execution of soil and sediment treatment activities, including understanding of benefits, limitations, and appropriate applications.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2–3 years of project management experience, preferably on environmental, remediation, civil, or decontamination projects.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in project management within environmental construction, remediation, or related civil engineering fields.
Strong understanding of environmental compliance and regulatory requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
Hands-on experience with environmental site assessment and remediation, including groundwater, soil, and vapor investigations.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, construction plans, and technical specifications.
Experience conducting soil sampling and environmental monitoring, with attention to proper procedures and documentation.
Ability to review Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and prepare professional, regulatory-ready reports.
Background in environmental, remediation, civil, or decontamination work, including environmental construction and land development.
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with travel potentially up to 80% depending on project needs.
Reliable transportation to access various project and field locations.
Strong report writing skills and ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal form.
Proficiency with construction management platforms such as ACC, Procore, or similar tools.
Commitment to obtaining OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Certification if not already held.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Awareness of contaminants commonly treated by ISS, including heavy metals, inorganics, non-volatile organics, and semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) such as PAHs, PCBs, pesticides, dioxins, and furans.
Appreciation of ISS benefits, including cost-effectiveness by avoiding excavation, transportation, and disposal fees, and the ability to provide rapid, on-site treatment that can reduce long-term groundwater pumping.
Understanding of ISS limitations, such as the impact of high concentrations of certain organic compounds on curing and depth restrictions related to site geology.
Knowledge of ISS applications in environmental remediation at contaminated soil or sediment sites and in geotechnical soil improvement.
OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Certification (preferred).
Experience with land development and environmental construction management.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a field-based project environment.
