Elmcrest Children's Center Assistant Program Supervisor in Syracuse, New York

Description

The Assistant Program Supervisor is a member of the departmental leadership team. The Assistant Program Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the execution of required daily tasks and ensuring quality of care for youth. The primary responsibility is to develop the Shift Supervisors and provide direction and support to them. This role is predicated on the notion that through supportive leadership, effective communication, organization, and oversight, that youth and staff members will achieve success commensurate with their abilities and potential. This position is scheduled in a manner that best accommodates client, department, and agency business needs, typically Monday thru Friday . A strong grasp of, and dedication to, the mission of Elmcrest and the Children’s Crisis Residences and processes is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general support to Children’s Crisis Residence operations and contribute to programming development. This includes process development, policy and procedure writing, quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives, as well as staff development.

  • Uphold, support, enforce, and monitor all OMH regulations as well as Agency policies and procedures.

  • Direct training or co-training of select components of the orientation of new staff members.

  • Effectively use critical thinking skills to lead Children’s Crisis Residences regarding safety and security issues as they arise.

  • Train and continually develop staff members using supportive supervision and job coaching. Positions directly overseen by the Assistant Program Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Shift Supervisors and Lead Youth Supports.

  • Oversee scheduling responsibilities as it relates to granting time off, filling for vacant position, etc. Assist in providing emergency and planned shift coverage for staff members who are absent due to vacation, holidays, illness, staff shortage, etc.

  • Lead programmatic tasks (incident reporting, documentation, accountability systems, etc.) or youth needs (on-call support, etc.). This includes routine and unforeseen events and tasks.

  • Ensure the program facility is in ideal condition (aesthetics, home-like environment, etc.).

  • Collaborate with the Program Clinician and Case Manager of each Children’s Crisis Residence to ensure a cohesive experience for youth and families.

    Required Education and Experience :

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Bachelor’s Degree related to human services (e.g., sociology, psychology, social work, human development), preferred.

  • Two years of supervisory or clinical experience.

  • Two years of Children’s Crisis Residence experience, preferred.

    Essential Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time

  • Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.

  • Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, free from major infractions and deemed acceptable to our insurance carrier.

  • Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required with this position.
