VCA SylvaniaVET Animal Hospital is expanding our Patient Care Team and seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant.

The Role

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting patient care and enhancing the client experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to grow their skills within a supportive and well-established team.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatments

  • Safely restrain pets for exams and procedures using Fear Free techniques

  • Prepare exam rooms and surgical suites

  • Support anesthesia and surgical procedures as needed

  • Collect samples and assist with in-house laboratory diagnostics

  • Administer medications directed by the DVM

  • Perform basic husbandry and nursing care for hospitalized patients

  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records

  • Educate clients on general pet care, medications, and discharge instructions

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Veterinary Assistant experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)

  • Passion for animal care and a commitment to Fear Free handling techniques

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the veterinary field
