The opportunity
We’ve got an exciting new opportunity for a Senior or Associate level Hydrogeologist to join our ENV Water team. Our hydrogeologists apply scientific knowledge and analysis to understand groundwater-related issues, including assessing the quantity, quality and availability of groundwater. Working closely with senior leaders, you will be working across the Oil & Gas, Legacy Site Closure and Transport & Infrastructure sectors.
The role will be based in our Melbourne office with the option to work from home up to 3 days per week when not required on site.

Your work will include a range of projects and involve:
Environmental Site Assessments and Detailed Site Investigations for legacy industrial sites and property developments
Programs on large oil and gas sites (refineries) and downstream oil and gas sites (service stations), including conceptualisation, modelling and groundwater impact characterisation
Projects including delivery of PFAS monitoring and remediation programs
Transport infrastructure projects including rail, road and ports
Groundwater inflow assessments for design
Derisking groundwater impacts for construction
Groundwater impact assessments related to renewable energy infrastructure

What you’ll do
Oversee and lead interesting hydrogeological and environmental field works (e.g. drilling, aquifer hydraulic testing, groundwater monitoring programs, site validation, remediation supervision)
Interrogate large datasets, develop conceptual site models and undertake interpretive reporting
Draft technical assessment reports and recommendations
Apply legislation, standards, guidelines, and project specifications
Prepare compelling proposals and lead projects to meet budget and strategic goals
Management of your own small to medium scale projects
Build strong relationships with colleagues and clients
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of junior consultants to reach their highest potential
Contribute to a culture of teamwork, innovation, collaboration, and passion, promoting trust and unity among team members
Contribute to market action plans for targeted clients
Uphold a strong safety culture and champion safety initiatives
About you
You're likely to have a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in hydrogeology or environmental consulting, and you're enthusiastic, reliable and great at building collaborative working relationships. The successful candidate will be eager to further their a career in Hydrogeology consulting.
You will also bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Geosciences or a related field
Experience in managing medium sized contaminated-site projects
Knowledge of groundwater contaminants, groundwater sampling techniques, investigation methodologies and remediation technologies for groundwater
Understanding of VIC regulations pertaining to the management of groundwater and contaminated sites
A current full Australian Driver’s Licence
Some experience in business development, proposal and report writing, and delivering exceptional client outcomes and cost-effective solutions.
Excellent communication skills, including being able to write high quality, concise reports
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in GIS and hydrogeological modelling software is advantageous
