Avangrid Forestry Project Manager in Sydney, Australia
This newly created role will join the Carbon2Nature team in Australia and lead the forestry-related aspects of the company.
Reporting to the General Manager of Carbon2Nature Australia and in close relation with the Global Carbon2Nature Operations and Business Teams, located in Spain.
Responsibilities
Lead the management of the projects in the Carbon2Nature Australia portfolio from a technical forestry perspective, ensuring their optimal development, identifying risks to future deliverables, assessing success criteria, and defining metrics for reporting indicators.
Interact with local project partners to guarantee commitments are met, and reports and deliverables are submitted on time.
Ensure project compliance with carbon standards methodologies, reporting, and audits.
Run project field inspections, ensuring that forestry best practices are correctly being implemented.
Work closely with Carbon2Nature Global team, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in line with the company’s standards.
Support in the Carbon2Nature Australia business development stages, by providing technical assessments on prospective new projects.
Support the General Manager with the preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts as required.
Contribute to the company's business strategy and communications.
Support the development and implementation of Carbon2Nature and Iberdrola systems, tools, and processes.
Assist with other projects, tasks and ad-hoc requests as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering (Forestry) or Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree which may include a specialisation in Forestry, Agronomy, or Environmental Engineering.
Proven experience in Australian nature-based project development and forestry project management (7 years minimum)
Understanding of Australian Climate Energy Regulator (CER) schemes, in particular the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme.
Familiarity and experience with methodologies for measuring biodiversity.
Ability to analyse technical/legal documents and project data to support decision-making and ensure project success.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GIS.
