Job Overview
We are looking for an Assistant Passive Fire Consultant to join our growing Passive Fire and Building Compliance team across Australia and New Zealand. You will support a wide range of projects, including commercial buildings, education facilities, health precincts, transport infrastructure and complex refurbishments. This role offers strong career development opportunities within a supportive and diverse team who are committed to delivering high quality outcomes for our clients and communities.
In this role, you will work across a broad range of activities, including:
Assisting with passive fire audits and the appraisal of existing and new buildings.
Supporting senior consultants in assessing building elements against the National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
Helping prepare passive fire compliance reports, dilapidation reports and rectification scopes.
Participating in site inspections to review fire stopping systems, structural fire protection and essential fire safety measures.
Assisting with the preparation of certification documentation and evidence of suitability assessments.
Liaising with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities under the guidance of senior staff.
Contributing to fee proposals, project coordination and delivery within agreed timeframes, cost and quality expectations.
Developing your technical knowledge of passive fire systems, building regulations and industry best practice.
Requirements and Qualifications
Post graduate qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline within the built environment.
Industry experience or exposure to construction, building compliance or fire safety (preferred but not essential for junior applicants).
Understanding of the performance requirements of the BCA and relevant Australian Standards, with a willingness to develop deeper technical expertise.
Familiarity with construction processes and an interest in progressing toward Building Surveyor accreditation (NSW Fair Trading Registered Certifier pathway or equivalent).
Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Home Building Act and Disability Discrimination Act (or willingness to learn).
White Card (CPCCWHS1001) or willingness to obtain.
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to assist in preparing technical reports.
Experience with Bluebeam, BQE Core or similar software (preferred).
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and build relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
Current Class C driver’s licence.
Personal drive, a proactive attitude and a commitment to quality, integrity and professional development.
Must have full working rights in Australia.
