Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Farmworkers and Laborers - Trabajadores y Jornaleros Agricolas in Swanton, Michigan
Three (3) farmworkers are needed in Lucas County, Ohio, to plant, care for, and harvest a variety of vegetables and melons, including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, garlic, melons, onions, peppers, pumpkins, gourds, winter squash, tomatoes, zucchini, and summer squash. Duties include planting, transplanting, tying, staking, hoeing, weeding, setting up and maintaining irrigation systems, loading and unloading plants, operating tractors, vehicles, and forklifts, and packing, sorting, and loading harvested produce. Workers will also maintain fields, tunnels, and farm equipment, and perform general farm labor as directed. Applicants must have prior farm experience, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for long periods. Work is primarily outdoors, and training will be provided on specific duties.

Wages / Salarios: *Workers will be paid $18.11 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more through piece-rate work. *H-2A workers under this contract will be paid $16.88 per hour. Housing / Vivienda: Employer provides free housing to workers who cannot reasonably return to their residence the same day. Workers are assigned separate sleeping rooms and bathroom facilities for male and female workers. Family housing is not provided. Employers must follow current AEWR rates and apply adverse compensation adjustments for H-2A workers receiving free employer-provided housing, as required by state guidelines under the interim rule.
