Summary:
Meta's AR/VR organization brings together experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and platform. Technical Operations team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow AR/VR Organization to deliver products to market at scale. Manufacturing Test Engineer will drive the development and deployment of hardware test systems with manufacturing partners and third-party integrators. Automation Engineer of manufacturing Test Engineering leads the end-to-end development of complex, high-throughput automation solutions for test lines.

Manufacturing Test Engineer - Automation Responsibilities:
Design and deploy comprehensive automation solutions for test lines, integrating industrial robots with complex conveyor architectures
Create detailed layouts and specify critical components, including motors, sensors, and structural supports
Lead the design and optimization of PLC logic and motion control to maximize throughput and accommodate test flow/process requirements
Conduct bottleneck analyses and cycle-time simulations to validate that the physical transport system meets or exceeds production targets
Lead the onsite installation and mechanical commissioning phase, ensuring automation solution technical capability and operation performance
Document all system architectures, including electrical schematics, mechanical BOMs, and logic flowcharts for long-term maintenance
Travel required: up to 50%

Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
3+ years of professional experience in industrial automation with a dedicated focus on material handling and conveyor integration
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD for the design of mechanical assemblies and factory floor footprints
Hands-on experience programming industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, or KUKA) for applications like palletizing, sorting, or assembly
Demonstrated ability to program PLCs and configure industrial communication networks
Demonstrated understanding of mechanical power transmission, including sizing motors and calculating torque requirements for conveyor loads

Expertise in high-speed and high precision automation systems for fragile or high-value components
Experience implementing tracking system to allow robots to interact with products on a moving belt
Experience in developing automation solution for test, including communication with tester and handling retest logics
In-depth knowledge of robotic/conveyor safety standards and codes
Background in performing structural load and stress analysis for custom-engineered automation system
Experience integrating vision systems for automated part identification and active alignment
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
