Primary Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Center Services Technician provides end-to-end oversight of both digital automation and physical infrastructure. This includes acting as the subject matter expert for Stonebranch UAC and Brightlayer-handling everything from server-level upgrades to real-time monitoring-while ensuring the data center's environmental health. The role's scope extends into production management, where the Senior Technician is responsible for the highest levels of accuracy in PeopleSoft Payroll processing and secure document printing. As a self-driven professional, they are expected to lead small-scale infrastructure projects, mitigate hardware emergencies, and maintain a rigorous asset inventory through hands-on racking, stacking, and wiring with minimal supervision
Application Administration: Oversee the installation, patching, and upgrading of the Stonebranch UAC application and its associated agents. Including:
System Troubleshooting
Production Support
Workflow Monitoring
Monitoring Administration
Payroll Execution: Serve as the primary processor for staff payroll via PeopleSoft, ensuring accuracy across payrolls.
Mentorship: Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to team members across different shifts to ensure operational consistency.
Emergency Preparedness: Maintain proficiency in data center emergency procedures; regularly document and revise these protocols to reflect current best practices
Infrastructure Oversight: Monitor critical power and cooling systems; interface with external vendors to schedule and supervise maintenance and repairs.
Network Monitoring: Monitor Wide Area Network (WAN) status and performance as directed by the WAN engineering team.
Incident Escalation: Communicate and escalate critical issues to leadership to ensure the prompt resolution of user-impacting events.
Queue Management: Monitor Service Now ticketing system queue and proactively address data center facility, network, or system-related tickets as they arise
Specialized Hardware: Operate and maintain data center-specific equipment, including server lifts, high-speed printers, and industrial mail inserters ensuring all hardware is production ready.
Critical Document Production: Coordinate the secure printing and distribution of mission-critical seasonal deliverables, including staff tax forms (W-2s/1095s), student transcripts, and semester-end report cards.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all physical installations meet safety and cable management standards.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces.
