JOB REQUIREMENTS: Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 05/01/2026 About this opportunity: Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead the process safety initiatives to support a zero-harm work environment by mitigating risk and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to address process safety issues at our Superior, WI refinery. Relocation will be provided. What you\'ll do: * Ensure regulatory compliance with U.S. process safety requirements, including OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP). * Lead and support refinery process safety programs, providing technical safety and engineering expertise across PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MAH, and Management of Change (MOC). * Drive continuous improvement of process safety systems, workflows, and assurance mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective implementation. * Serve as a change agent, embedding process safety principles across the organization and influencing stakeholders at all levels. * Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses, identifying lessons learned and preventing recurrence of major incidents. * Coordinate and oversee audits (internal, third-party, insurance), ensuring gap identification, tracking, and timely close-out of corrective actions. * Partner with site leadership and HSE leadership to identify and mitigate key risks, advance safety systems, and set, measure, and analyze occupational and process safety performance goals. Who you are: * Legally authorized to work in the US * Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Safety/Environmental Discipline * 12+ years\' experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering in oil and gas or chemicals * Subject matter expert of US regulations, specifically the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Process Safety Management Standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP Rule * In depth familiarity with MOC, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, and major accident hazard (MAH) methodologies and good practices * Demonstrated experience in facilitating MOC, HAZOP/PHA, and LOPA * Proficient in Root Cause Analysis methodologies and incident investigation leadership * Experience in contractor safety, auditing, and emergency response We acknowledge the value of transferable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
