WSP USA Associate Traffic Modeller in Sunshine Coast Mc, Australia
We’re looking for an Associate Traffic Modeller to join our Brisbane Planning & Mobility team. This role suits an experienced modeller who enjoys solving complex network problems, building fit‑for‑purpose models, and translating analysis into clear advice for clients and design teams.
You’ll work across a diverse pipeline of operational and strategic traffic modelling and transport infrastructure projects, supporting government and private sector clients with robust modelling, scenario testing and evidence‑based recommendations.
In this role, you will:
Lead and deliver traffic modelling workstreams from scoping through to reporting and client presentation
Develop and apply operational models (micro/meso as required), including model development, calibration and validation and option testing
Apply industry tools such as VISSIM, Aimsun, SIDRA and EMME (and/or similar platforms) to assess network performance, identify constraints and evaluate interventions
Prepare high‑quality technical reporting and provide clear, defensible interpretation of results for stakeholders and decision makers
Collaborate with traffic engineers, planners and designers to provide modelling inputs that support design development and business cases
Coach and review the work of junior modellers/analysts, contributing to capability uplift across the team (where relevant to level)
You will bring:
Ideally, around 8+ years of experience in a similar or related environment or role
Demonstrated experience in traffic/transport modelling in an Australian consulting or client environment
Hands-on proficiency in one or more of VISSIM, Aimsun, SIDRA and EMME (and a willingness to broaden your toolkit)
Strong capability in model calibration/validation, scenario development, results processing and communicating insights
Excellent written communication skills with experience producing modelling reports and/or contributing to business case technical sections
A collaborative mindset and confidence in engaging with clients and internal stakeholdersRelevant tertiary qualification (e.g., engineering, transport planning, mathematics/economics or related)
