  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Experience with technical innovation and leading mixed-signal circuit design of successful machine-learning accelerators.

  • Experience technically leading mixed-signal circuit design teams through the full cycle, from concept to delivery.

  • Expertise working on high-performance, server-class chip projects.

  • Excellent leadership skills, including cross-functional influencing and ability to motivate a team.

About the job

As a Principal Engineer of Mixed-Signal Design within the Chip Innovation and Infrastructure (CI2) team, you will help deliver products that have a substantive impact on Google’s technical infrastructure. You will provide technical leadership to a group of silicon engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment with a focus on mixed-signal design for machine-learning accelerators within Google data centers. You will participate in cross-collaboration with cross-functional organizations. You'll bring out the best in the team to deliver designs that serve many of Google’s core businesses.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $275,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the mixed-signal design for CI2 in collaboration with other Google teams and external customers. Enable and maintain the co-design work process with all functions involved in designing and delivering mixed-signal components for CI2 products.

  • Ensure mixed-signal designs for CI2 chip architectures and fully enable and deliver Google product roadmap in terms of functionality, performance, power, cost, quality, usability, and deployability.

  • Set the direction for CI2 mixed-signal microarchitecture and modeling efforts and ensure on-time delivery of specifications to enable rapid and efficient development of next generation chips.

  • Collaborate with all functions of mixed-signal chip development (i.e., verification, implementation, etc.) and delivery (e.g., facilitate developers of various backgrounds to contribute to the mixed-signal architecture or encourage mixed-signal architects to be involved with chip development responsibilities).
