Aston Carter Engineering Program Specialist (Operations) in Sunnyvale, California

We are seeking an Operations Program Specialist to support hardware product development within a fast‑paced, prototype‑driven environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting new product introduction (NPI) by managing configuration data, build readiness, and change control throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, hardware configuration management, and cross‑functional collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing teams.

Role is 100% onsite in Sunnyvale, CA- must be local to be considered for the role.

Must be ITAR compliant to be considered for the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support PLM activities across multiple development programs.

  • Create, structure, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Enter, track, and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Non‑Recurring Change Orders (NRCOs/RCOs).

  • Manage configuration changes and ensure updates move through required approval workflows.

  • Maintain accurate product and configuration data throughout development cycles.

  • Partner closely with Engineers and Component Engineers to:

  • Create and manage part numbers

  • Support configuration changes during product development

  • Own and maintain build matrices for prototype and development builds, including:

  • Defining build configurations

  • Aligning parts, revisions, and documentation

  • Support prototype builds with overseas manufacturing partners and contract manufacturers.

  • Communicate part number updates, BOM changes, and configuration details to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work within PLM tools such as Agile, Windchill, or similar systems.

  • Support Agile‑like workflows for change management and configuration control.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (Agile, Windchill, or similar).

  • Hands‑on experience with hardware configuration management.

  • Experience managing BOMs and engineering change processes (ECO/RCO).

  • Knowledge of system or device build planning, including prototype builds.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience creating and maintaining build matrices.

  • Exposure to consumer electronics, hardware, or prototype development environments.

  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers or suppliers.

  • Background in Operations Program Management, Configuration Management, or Engineering Program Support.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
