Job Title: Production Technician

Job Description

The Production Technician operates and supports automated packaging equipment on the coater and tuber production lines. This role involves setting up machines, performing basic troubleshooting, conducting visual quality inspections, and ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production of flexible packaging products.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support the coater line by applying specialized coatings to flexible packaging materials according to established specifications and procedures.

  • Assist with operation of the tuber line, a form-fill-seal tubing line that produces packaging from rollstock, ensuring smooth and continuous production.

  • Set up machines for production runs, including adjustments, changeovers, and turnovers, following standard operating procedures.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment to identify and address minor mechanical issues and irregularities.

  • Use a tape measure and other basic tools to verify dimensions, alignment, and proper machine setup.

  • Conduct frequent visual inspections and quality checks on materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.

  • Monitor equipment during operation and recognize when machines are malfunctioning or not running optimally, escalating issues as needed.

  • Handle and lift materials and products up to 50 lbs repeatedly in a safe and controlled manner.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines consistently, contributing to a safe and clean production environment.

  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support continuous production and teamwork.

  • Demonstrate strong initiative by taking ownership of tasks, seeking guidance when needed, and supporting team members on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery.

  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment.

  • Experience with machine operation, setup, or turnovers in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.

  • Capability to perform heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs repetitively.

  • Strong focus on safety practices and adherence to safety procedures.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

  • Ability to recognize and respond when a machine is malfunctioning.

  • Attention to detail for visual quality checks and inspections.

  • Strong initiative and willingness to learn machine operation and processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous operating manufacturing or production setting.

  • Experience setting up machines or performing production line turnovers.

  • Comfort working in a small, collaborative team environment.

  • Willingness to be trained on specialized coater and tuber line equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based inside a very clean production facility with a smaller, close-knit team environment. The work involves operating and monitoring automated coater and tuber lines and handling materials throughout the shift. The position requires frequent standing, movement around the production floor, and repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs. Shifts are structured on a three-shift schedule: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift starting at 11:00 p.m. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork.

This is a Contract position based out of Summerville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
