Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic supports the maintenance, operation, and repair of production-related systems and equipment in a clean, cGMP-compliant manufacturing environment. This role focuses on performing preventative and corrective maintenance, promptly resolving mechanical issues, and ensuring equipment remains in a validated state to maximize uptime and reliability. The position collaborates closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and contractors to support new installations, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment at the appropriate intervals and ensure all tasks are completed by assigned due dates.

  • Maintain all equipment in its designed and validated state to ensure reliable performance and compliance with internal standards.

  • Maximize equipment availability by performing timely mechanical maintenance, adjustments, and repairs.

  • Complete all maintenance work in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and equipment manufacturer service guidelines.

  • Promptly respond to mechanical breakdowns, diagnose root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Perform equipment changeovers and adjustments to support production schedules and product change requirements.

  • Maintain assigned equipment areas in a constant state of inspection-readiness, including cleanliness, organization, and adherence to cGMP requirements.

  • Ensure work areas and equipment meet safety and regulatory standards at all times.

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing repairs, modifications, and installations of production equipment.

  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams on new system installations, equipment modifications, and process improvements.

  • Assist in projects related to facility modification, capacity expansion, and efficiency improvements.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of facilities and maintenance equipment and promptly report damage or potential problems with equipment or grounds.

  • Keep supervisors informed of project status, progress, and any issues that may impact timelines or performance.

  • Recognize when additional support or resources are needed and proactively ask for help to achieve goals.

  • Consistently report to work as scheduled, start work at the start of the shift, arrive on time to meetings, and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.

  • Work overtime as required to support production needs, maintenance activities, and project deadlines.

  • Demonstrate initiative and job knowledge by suggesting improvements, identifying new and better ways to accomplish goals, and proposing well thought-out solutions to problems.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in mechanical maintenance and repair of production equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical breakdowns and equipment performance issues.

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules and standards.

  • Experience with corrective maintenance on production and facilities equipment.

  • Familiarity with cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and working in regulated environments.

  • Experience with facilities equipment and utilities maintenance.

  • Ability to work from SOPs and manufacturer service guidelines to perform maintenance tasks.

  • Capability to coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to complete maintenance and installation activities.

  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certificate in a mechanical, industrial, or related technical discipline is preferred.

  • Preferred experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Food manufacturing environments.

  • Experience working in climate-controlled, food-grade, or similarly clean production facilities.

  • Comfort working in a team-oriented environment with Production, Engineering, and Quality functions.

  • Strong communication skills to clearly report issues, progress, and improvement ideas.

  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing process and equipment improvements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $64480.00 - $70720.00/yr.
