University of Connecticut (UConn) Assistant Director of Stamford Admissions and Recruitment in Storrs, Connecticut

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Campus Dean, the Assistant Director of Stamford Admissions and Recruitment oversees Stamford Admissions Office operations, including supervision of staff and the campus visit program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the Stamford Admissions Office operations, including supervision of professional staff, student workers, and the campus visit program; compiles and prepares admissions data reports.

  • Leads the execution of major campus events, including Open Houses, UConn Bound Days, Student Panels, Husky for a Day Programs, Specialty Major Programs, and more.

  • Executes targeted outreach initiatives to regional high schools to schedule campus visits and to actively engage prospective students to participate in campus tours and establish meaningful connections that influence enrollment decisions.

  • Hosts information sessions for regional high school guidance counselors and recruitment groups.

  • Reviews undergraduate applications in accordance with University policies and admissions standards, as assigned.

  • Advises applicants on admission requirements, eligibility, program options, and residency; conducts 1:1 meetings and serves as a resource for students, families, and partner institutions by interpreting policies and providing referrals.

  • Develops online and social media content to drive Stamford admissions marketing strategy.

  • Collaborates with ITS, Events Services, Operations, and the Campus Dean’s Office to optimize digital recruitment strategies and track performance metrics.

  • Delivers admissions presentations, including application tips and campus information sessions; updates materials for group visits and programs.

  • Coordinates with Storrs Admissions and other campus units to align recruitment and admission practices; visits schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations to build relationships and promote UConn Stamford.

  • Supports international student enrollment in partnership with Storrs Admissions and the Office for International Student and Scholar Services.

  • Represents UConn Stamford at recruitment fairs and outreach events; engages in in-state and occasional out-of-state travel.

  • Partners with academic and administrative units on campus to develop events and messaging that highlight Stamford’s unique programs, such as Digital Media and Design, Computer Science, and other majors.

  • Understands and relays information related to campus housing options.

  • As assigned, is responsible for special recruiting programs that require specialized recruiting efforts and knowledge of the needs of target groups.

  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or student-facing event management, including at least one year of professional staff supervisory experience.

  • Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.

  • Proven organizational skills with demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.

  • Experience delivering in‑person and virtual presentations, as well as managing online presence and social media platforms for engagement and outreach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.

  • Experience with enterprise systems such as Slate CRM, PeopleSoft, and/or other enrollment management software, technologies, and databases.

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse and urban student populations, with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of higher education admissions infrastructure, processes, and best practices.

  • Proven knowledge of Connecticut and the Northeast student catchment areas, including socio-economic, demographic, and academic trends that influence recruitment strategies.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position at the Stamford campus. The chosen incumbent must have the ability and willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
