New England Science & Sailing Foundation Weekend Adult Sailing Instructor in Stonington, Connecticut
NESS is looking for a motivated sailing instructor to support and teach our Adult Sailing Program offerings. This position supports and teaches sailing at all levels on our fleet of 23ft Sonar keelboats. This position works closely with our Adult & Adaptive Sailing Coordinator to provide keelboat classes, private lessons, and support community programs surrounding sailing.
This is a seasonal position that runs from 6/8/2026 through 8/28/2026.
NESS offers a variety of classes like learn to sail, adventure sailing, racing classes, keelboats, and foiling!!! Our team of instructors have after hour access to sail our fleet of foiling boats (Waszps, UFO, foil boards, Quant 23), Melges 15s, RS500, windsurf boards, etc!
Potential work schedules (candidate dependent) :
Saturdays & Sundays, June through August 2026 (16hrs/week)
Wednesday - Sunday workweek, June through August 2026 (35-40hrs/week)
Job Duties: (on Sonar Keelboat):
Teach beginner and intermediate adult sailing group classes
Provide private lesson instruction from a sailboat
Skipper for Discover Sail Programs
Support Social League community program
Job Requirements:
US Sailing Level 1 preferred
Current CPR and First Aid (can be attained through NESS)
State Safe Powerboating Certificate
Experience in sailing instruction
Sailing and powerboating experience
Comfort teaching and working with adults
