Actalent Controls Specialist in Stone Ridge, Virginia

Job Title: Controls SpecialistJob Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively to support capital projects and develop solutions that enhance client performance and help achieve critical goals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work schedules and manpower forecasts for operations technicians.

  • Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies affecting the schedule or quality of Basebuild utility systems after construction installation.

  • Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.

  • Provide reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.

  • Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.

  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on assigned projects.

  • Train suppliers in the use of commissioning software systems.

  • Provide and manage supplier access to commissioning software systems.

  • Collaborate effectively with engineering design team members and client representatives.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.

  • Experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and Control Logix hardware and software.

  • Experience with large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators.

  • Good understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).

  • Proficient in complex process systems architecture and design, Instrumentation, Device Selection, Networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.

  • Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.

  • Proficient in written and verbal technical communication, including report generation and group presentations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a similar technical field is preferred.

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering is acceptable.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with control systems in a data center or similar environment.

  • Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

  • Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA platforms is a plus.

  • Experience conducting I/O checkouts.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.

Work Environment

This position involves traveling to projects located in Aldie, VA, with a per diem included. The work schedule is 40-50 hours per week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Stone Ridge, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $60.00/hr.
