Job Title: Mechanic
Job Description
This role involves performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment in an indoor and outdoor production environment. The mechanic works with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyor systems, and other mechanical components to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all equipment.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues on production and material-handling equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to established schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Inspect, repair, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including hoses, valves, cylinders, and related components.
Service and repair gearboxes, conveyor systems, and associated mechanical components to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues related to motors, controls, and related equipment.
Perform forklift repair and maintenance as needed to keep material-handling equipment safe and operational.
Use welding skills to repair or fabricate parts, supports, and fixtures required for equipment maintenance and upgrades.
Document maintenance and repair activities accurately and in a timely manner, following facility procedures.
Work safely in an industrial production environment, following all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and best practices.
Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to prioritize work orders and minimize equipment downtime.
Operate tools, machinery, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner in both indoor and outdoor areas of the facility.
Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring equipment issues and recommending long-term solutions.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment in an industrial or similar environment.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing pneumatic systems, including valves, actuators, and lines.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, and hoses.
Experience working with conveyor systems and gearboxes, including inspection, repair, and adjustment.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules.
Electrical troubleshooting skills sufficient to identify and resolve common equipment issues.
Ability to perform forklift repair and maintenance or a strong willingness to learn.
Welding skills for repair and fabrication tasks in support of maintenance activities.
Ability to work 10-hour shifts and be available for Saturday work as part of the regular schedule.
Comfort working in a dirty, dusty industrial production environment with exposure to weather elements.
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to industrial safety practices and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in an industrial production facility or similar heavy equipment environment.
Prior experience maintaining forklifts or other material-handling equipment.
Familiarity with unionized work environments and adherence to related work rules and procedures.
Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance and production teams to resolve equipment issues.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail in completing maintenance records, inspections, and repair documentation.

Work Environment
The position is based in an indoor industrial production facility that can be dirty and dusty, with areas that are open and exposed to weather elements while still within an enclosed space. The work involves both indoor and outdoor tasks around heavy equipment and machinery. The standard shift runs from approximately 3:15–6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and team members should expect 10-hour workdays and regular Saturday work. The environment is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery in a busy production setting, in accordance with union work practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Stockton, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.60 - $33.45/hr.
