Actalent Senior Electrical Engineer in Sterling, Virginia

Responsibilities

The Sr Engineer supports a wide range of projects and participates in all aspects of the product lifecycle: requirements development, preliminary design, critical design, prototype, test, and production. Sr Engineers take on challenging technical problems, drive new feature designs, improve product performance, participate in research and development, and contribute to regular delivery of space-bound hardware. Sr Engineers take on more autonomy and ownership over time, with clear and varied opportunities for career growth.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications and Key Skills

• 5+ years electrical/electronics engineering experience in related industry:

o Aerospace or other regulated industry, and/or

o Power electronics design and development

• 3+ years of experience with design and debug of analog, digital, or power electronics

• Schematic and PCB design skills using Cadence or Altium

• Circuit analysis including worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), component stress, failure mode analysis (FMEA/FMECA), reliability analysis, radiation effects analysis, circuit simulation, spreadsheet analysis

• Hardware testing and debugging with oscilloscope, programmable power supply, programmable load, data acquisition system, etc.

• Effective documentation: writing, developing, and maintaining engineering drawings, procedures, specifications, product datasheets, application notes, slide presentations, and technical reports.

• Collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering team, program managers, and manufacturing technicians.

• Competency with standard digital office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)

Desired Skills and Experiences

• Familiarity with high-reliability, fault tolerant, radiation tolerance, and/or safety-critical systems

• Familiarity with EEE parts quality requirements

• Experience designing products for operation in harsh environments

• Supplier management: parts procurement, PCB fabrication, and assembly service

• Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, EMI/EMC) process and equipment

• Design for manufacturing, design for testing

• Designing test equipment, including test script development and automation using MATLAB, C/C++, or Python

• Experience working with quality management systems: ISO-9001, AS9100

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sterling, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $60.00/hr.
