Actalent Senior Electrical Engineer in Sterling, Virginia

Join a dynamic team focused on the development of high-reliability spacecraft electronics. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will engage in a diverse range of projects, contributing to all phases of the product lifecycle, from requirements development to production. This role offers the opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems and drive the design of new features, enhancing product performance and ensuring the regular delivery of space-bound hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Support a wide range of projects and participate in all aspects of the product lifecycle: requirements development, preliminary design, critical design, prototype, test, and production.

  • Tackle challenging technical problems and drive new feature designs.

  • Enhance product performance and contribute to research and development.

  • Take on more autonomy and ownership over time, with clear and varied opportunities for career growth.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of electrical/electronics engineering experience in a related field or regulated industry.

  • 3+ years of experience with the design and debug of analog, digital, or power electronics.

  • Proficiency in schematic and PCB design using Cadence or Altium.

  • Experience in circuit analysis, including worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), component stress, failure mode analysis (FMEA/FMECA), reliability analysis, radiation effects analysis, circuit simulation, and spreadsheet analysis.

  • Hardware testing and debugging skills using an oscilloscope, programmable power supply, programmable load, data acquisition system, etc.

  • Effective documentation skills for writing, developing, and maintaining engineering drawings, procedures, specifications, product datasheets, application notes, slide presentations, and technical reports.

  • Collaboration skills for working with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, program managers, and manufacturing technicians.

  • Competency with standard digital office tools (Word, Excel, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with high-reliability, fault-tolerant, radiation-tolerance, and/or safety-critical systems.

  • Understanding of EEE parts quality requirements.

  • Experience designing products for operation in harsh environments.

  • Supplier management skills, including parts procurement, PCB fabrication, and assembly service.

  • Experience with environmental testing processes and equipment (thermal, vacuum, EMI/EMC).

  • Design for manufacturing and design for testing experience.

  • Experience designing test equipment, including test script development and automation using MATLAB, C/C++, or Python.

  • Familiarity with quality management systems like ISO-9001 and AS9100.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $60.00/hr.
