The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions in an outpatient setting. This role delivers evidence-based, individualized care, closely monitors patient progress, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to help each patient achieve the best possible outcomes.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive initial evaluations and develop individualized plans of care for patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
Provide therapeutic interventions including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and functional training tailored to each patient’s needs.
Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response.
Perform ongoing reassessments and update patient goals to reflect changes in status and progress toward outcomes.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation for all patient encounters.
Collaborate closely with Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers, and support staff to coordinate and optimize patient care.
Supervise and direct support staff, including Rehabilitation Technicians, during patient care activities.
Educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment plans, home exercise programs, and recovery expectations to promote engagement and adherence.
Ensure continuity of care through proactive patient follow-up and clear communication with patients and team members.
Participate in clinic initiatives aimed at improving clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and overall clinic experience.
Essential Skills
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
Active Virginia Physical Therapy license in good standing, or eligibility to obtain one.
Strong clinical reasoning skills with the ability to design and progress evidence-based treatment plans.
Demonstrated proficiency in physical therapy treatment, including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
Ability to efficiently manage a full outpatient patient caseload.
Commitment to patient-centered care and measurable clinical outcomes.
Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to interdisciplinary care.
Strong time management and organizational skills to balance documentation, treatment, and follow-up.
Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
Ability to assist patients safely with mobility and transfers.
Ability to lift or support up to 50 pounds as needed during patient care.
Fine motor skills required for precise documentation and delivery of hands-on treatment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Willingness to consider and support new graduates in developing clinical skills.
Interest in pursuing advanced certifications such as Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), dry needling, and other specialty credentials.
Motivation for professional growth and career advancement into lead or managerial roles.
Strong commitment to ongoing learning and participation in continuing education opportunities.
Work Environment
This is an on-site outpatient physical therapy role in a supportive, positive clinic environment focused on patient-centered, evidence-based care. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with three available shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The setting involves frequent standing, walking, and assisting patients with mobility and transfers, as well as performing manual therapy and therapeutic exercises. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
Student Loan Assistance: $500/month after 6 months — $6,000/year Unlimited CEUs + full certification reimbursement (OCS, dry needling, and more) Health & Vision Insurance: 80% employer-paid PTO + a supportive, positive work environment
