Job Description
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a skilled CNC Programmer / Machinist, where you'll play a key role in producing precision parts and components. We're looking for an experienced professional proficient in both CNC turning and 3-5 axis milling to operate, program, and optimize advanced CNC equipment for high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC turning lathes and 3-5 axis milling machines (including brands such as Okuma, Mazak, Hurco, DN Solutions, and similar)
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software, G&M codes, and conversational programming methods
- Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate machining
- Select, install, and adjust appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and attachments for turning and multi-axis milling operations
- Machine a variety of materials, including tool steel, alloy steel, aluminum, plastics, and others, while maintaining tight tolerances
- Load and unload materials using overhead cranes or other handling equipment
- Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to quality standards
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to keep equipment in optimal condition
- Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with the team to meet production goals and deadlines
- Contribute to process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and additional related tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience programming and operating CNC turning and 3-5 axis milling machines
- Strong proficiency in CAM software (GibbsCAM experience is a plus), G-code, M-code, and conversational programming
- Solid understanding of machining principles, techniques, feeds/speeds, and best practices for multi-axis operations
- Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Ability to hold close tolerances and produce high-precision parts
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations and program adjustments
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.)
- Familiarity with a range of materials and their machining characteristics
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
