Mitchell Community College Testing Proctor - Part Time in Statesville, North Carolina
Job Summary
The Testing Proctor administers computerized placement tests in accordance with established institutional policies and procedures. This position supports the admissions department by guiding students through the admissions process and ensuring a secure, organized, and efficient testing environment while assisting students throughout the testing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer student placement and TEAS exam in accordance with established procedures
- Verify the identity of all test takers prior to testing
- Maintain a quiet, organized, and secure testing environment
- Assist students as with procedural issues that arise during testing sessions
- Record placement test scores in Colleague
- Maintain and update spreadsheets tracking students who have signed up and completed placement and TEAS exams.
- Send email reminders to students regarding scheduled placement test and TEAS exams
- Monitor test takers to ensure integrity in during the testing process
- Update and maintain the placement test and TEAS exam schedule
- Conduct New Student Information Sessions appointments to discuss program selection and information related to the enrollment process
- Inform students about their status updates regarding enrollment, registration, and next steps
- Provides general information regarding admissions, student records and important college deadlines to students, faculty and staff via on-line, by phone or in person inquiries
Related Responsibilities:
- Support on-campus enrollment activities including college information sessions, new student orientation, and graduation activities
- Assist with enrollment and retention outreach activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc), typing and web browsers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with students, faculty and staff
- Understanding of and commitment to open-access community college philosophy and diversity issues
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in providing administrative support is required
Surroundings/Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements.
Physical Effort:
The work is sedentary in nature although includes periods of moving about the office or between buildings and locations. Work may require sitting for extended periods viewing a computer; and will require occasional movement of up to 15 lbs.
Scheduling:
This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week. Office hours, Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Must be available to work flexible work hours, as coverage requires and to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.
Travel:
Local travel may be required, including between campus locations.
