Job Description
EnergyUnited EMC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of company facilities and equipment. This role is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting, HVAC system maintenance, and facility repairs .
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, the ability to diagnose and repair facility systems, and experience coordinating with contractors and vendors. This position plays a key role in ensuring company facilities remain safe, operational, and professionally maintained .
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance
Perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance tasks for company facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs including minor electrical and plumbing work .
Ensure buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
Electrical Systems
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including lighting, motors, wiring, switches, circuit breakers, and control panels .
Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards .
HVAC Maintenance
Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems .
Assist in diagnosing and repairing HVAC system issues.
Contractor Coordination
Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing maintenance or repair work.
Review project scope and ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
Monitor contractor productivity and minimize facility downtime.
Inspections & Preventative Maintenance
Conduct facility inspections and maintenance assessments.
Document maintenance issues and track performance metrics.
Support continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs.
Operational Support
Assist leadership with planning and implementing departmental initiatives.
Help standardize facility processes and support operational improvements.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals .
Emergency Response
Coordinate emergency repairs when necessary.
Respond to facility issues during after-hours or adverse weather events .
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 5 years of facilities maintenance coordination experience .
Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and general building maintenance .
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals .
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred
Two-year technical degree in HVAC, electrical, or a related field.
Forklift or scissor lift certification .
Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and electric utility safety regulations.
Working Conditions
Normal working hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM , Monday through Friday.
Some irregular hours, emergency response, and on-call work may be required.
Employees must be available during major storms or outage events .
Residency Requirement
Employees in this position must reside within one of the nineteen counties served by the Cooperative or within a 40-mile driving radius of an EnergyUnited EMC office .
