POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTResearch Scientist II Salary Grade 22: Hourly Rate: $38.80 - $46.80Hours: 4 hours biweeklyThe Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. seeks a qualified candidate to support NIH-funded research focused on intrauterine fetal development. This position is an hourly, as-needed appointment based on laboratory operational requirements.The Research Scientist II / Laboratory Supervisor will support laboratory-based research activities related to intrauterine fetal brain development. The incumbent will function with a high degree of independence, including assuming supervisory responsibilities in the laboratory when required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Perform laboratory research activities involving molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to DNA, RNA, and protein isolation; polymerase chain reaction (PCR); DNA construct preparation; cell culture; and experimental data collection. * Serve as laboratory supervisor as required, exercising independent judgment in laboratory operations. * Maintain and update experimental protocols and standard operating procedures. * Coordinate procurement activities, including preparation of purchase orders and inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents. * Assist the Principal Investigator with data collection, data analysis, data management, and interpretation of experimental results. * Contribute to manuscript preparation and other scholarly or regulatory documentation as assigned. * Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal laboratory regulations and safety standards.Minimum Qualifications * Bachelors Degree in a related field and three years of experience * Masters Degree in a related field and two years of experience. * Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated foundational knowledge in Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, or Developmental Biology. * Prior laboratory experience in Molecular Biology or Genetics. * Federal Laboratory Technologist certification.Location: 1050 Forest Hill Road, Staten Island, NY 10314 To Apply: Submit a resume and cover letter on our website at: https://ibr.applicantpro.com/jobs/.
