The Adams Lab in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator Associate (CRCA) to support clinical and community-based studies focused on youth suicide prevention and digital mental health.
The CRCA will coordinate moderately complex aspects of one or more NIH- and foundation-funded projects examining:
• Real-time monitoring of suicide risk using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and smartphone-based platforms
• Development and pilot testing of Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAIs) for suicide prevention
• Community-engaged adaptation of culturally responsive suicide prevention interventions
• Multi-site implementation studies in partnership with academic and community organizations
The position works under the direction of the Principal Investigator (Leslie Adams, PhD, MPH) and plays a central role in participant coordination, safety monitoring, institutional review board compliance, and community engagement.
This role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of public mental health, digital health innovation, and equity-focused suicide prevention.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as primary contact with research participants, community partners, sponsors, and regulatory bodies, coordinate studies from start-up through close-out
• Screen participants for eligibility and obtain informed consent/assent according to protocol
• Coordinate participant onboarding to smartphone-based EMA and digital monitoring platforms; troubleshoot technical issues
• Monitor real-time safety alerts and implement protocol-defined suicide risk escalation procedures under PI supervision
• Maintain research databases (e.g., REDCap), track recruitment and retention metrics, and complete case report forms
• Ensure compliance with research protocols; assist with IRB submissions, renewals, and regulatory documentation
• Coordinate qualitative interviews and focus groups, including scheduling, documentation, and data management
• Support multi-site coordination with collaborating institutions , global and community partners
• Represent the research team at community outreach events and stakeholder meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends
• Assist with participant incentive tracking and study budget coordination
• Maintain essential regulatory and safety documentation in accordance with institutional requirements
• Participate in monitor visits and regulatory audits
About the Adams Lab
The Adams Lab conducts research to prevent suicide and reduce mental health disparities among diverse and marginalized youth. Our work integrates digital health, ecological momentary assessment, community-engaged methods, and implementation science to understand near-term suicide risk and develop scalable, equitable interventions.
