To be considered for this position, Science Instructors must posses an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
#030 Biology 7-12; #031 Chemistry 7-12; #032 Physics 7-12; #034 General Science 7-12
OR be Eligible for a State of Connecticut teaching certificate in subject area (includes ARC candidates) .

Your Role as a Science Instructor at J.M. Wright Tech
At CTECS our Science instructors are responsible for educating students with teaching practices that reflect high expectations and current pedagogy of teaching and learning methods, strategies, and technologies in Science. Our instructions succeed by:
Utilizing teaching teaching practices that are student-centered with a gradual release of responsibility, differentiation, student discourse, and blended-learning
Their ability to communicate with parents
Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
Participating in professional learning
Position Highlights
Schedule : first shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
Location : J.M. Wright Technical High School (https://wright.cttech.org/) , in Stamford, CT.
Salary : VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers (https://www.cttech.org/careers/salary-schedules/full-time-instructor-salary-schedule/) .
Academic Calendar : CTECS follows a ten-month academic calendar (188 days per year.)

CTECS operates 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, one technical education center and two airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance programs. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System this class is accountable for educating students in academic and trade coursework.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
A CTECS Science instructor is responsible for educating students with teaching practices that reflect high expectations and current pedagogy of teaching and learning methods, strategies, and technologies in Science e.g., student-centered, gradual release of responsibility, differentiation, student discourse, and blended-learning; communicate with parents; create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; participate in professional learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experienced in high school science curricula.
Professional experiences related to the field of teaching Science.
Experience with varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning.
Experience with fostering and facilitating learning, classroom management, and behavior intervention plans.
Experience delivering ideas and objectives through oral and written communication.
Experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google Products.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.
