Description
Job Title: Staff Accountant (Leave of Absence Coverage)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to provide coverage for a leave of absence within our accounting team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, assist with month-end close, perform account reconciliations, and help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, solid systems experience, and the ability to step in quickly and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries
Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and subledgers
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
Maintain and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts
Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting as needed
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and internal reporting
Review financial data for accuracy and identify discrepancies
Assist with accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions
Help maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
Partner with internal departments to gather information and resolve accounting issues
Support ad hoc projects and reporting as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a Staff Accountant or similar role
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting support
Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing interim, contract, or leave coverage support
Exposure to multiple areas of accounting, including AP and AR
Ability to adapt quickly and learn new processes and systems
