Job Description
This Configuration Management Specialist role is pivotal in maintaining accurate and controlled product configuration records throughout the entire product lifecycle. The specialist ensures that all engineering changes, documentation, and revisions are properly reviewed, approved, tracked, and implemented according to company procedures and regulatory requirements. By maintaining configuration integrity and full traceability, this role supports Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Inventory, and Supply Chain teams. This position ensures that products are built, documented, and delivered using correct and approved configurations, minimizing risk, rework, and compliance issues.
Responsibilities
Maintain and control product configuration data, including part numbers, bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and specifications.
Manage engineering change processes (ECRs, ECOs, ECNs), ensuring timely review, approval, and implementation.
Ensure configuration accuracy and revision control across ERP, PLM, and document management systems.
Support Manufacturing by ensuring released configurations align with build requirements.
Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to maintain compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide configuration traceability to support audits, inspections, and investigations.
Coordinate with Supply Chain and Inventory to prevent discrepancies caused by configuration changes.
Enforce configuration management policies, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in configuration control, document control, manufacturing, or engineering support.
Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Strong familiarity with configuration management principles and change control processes.
Experience using ERP, PLM, or document control systems.
Ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Extensive experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills in documentation and configuration control.
Proficiency in data entry and parts inventory management.
Ability to implement processes effectively.
Work Environment
The position is based onsite in Stafford, Virginia, within a newly built 30,000 sq. ft. facility. The work environment supports collaboration with various teams to adapt existing technology to meet the needs of Department of Defense (DoD) contracts.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Stafford, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
