The 1st Class Instrument and Electrical Technician performs work requiring a high degree of skill in the installation, inspection, repair, adjustment, and servicing of electronic and pneumatic instruments. Performs related work as required. Because the Authority has a primary responsibility to serve the public 24 hours a day, an employee in this class is expected to work overtime as conditions demand, and may be required to accept overtime on short notice during emergency or unusual conditions and to perform essential work as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. : - Installs, inspects, calibrates and repairs a variety of instruments such as recorders, regulators, chlorination equipment, pressure gauges and controls. - Analyzes and diagnoses faults in operation of instruments and control equipment and makes correct adjustments or repairs - Operates small machine tools in repairing instruments and controls; repairs electronic instruments. - Must be able and certified to operates forklift, man lift, scissor lift - Facilitate Preventive, Predictive, and corrective maintenance measures. Must be able to write field reports, and fill out associated work orders and documentation. Will be required to troubleshoot field equipment and procure parts and materials from the warehouse. - Maintains and repairs all instrumentation on heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), fuel fire boilers and accessories, diesel engines, steam turbines, generators, Gas Turbines, Reciprocating Internal Combustion and similar equipment (RICE) - Maintains station trouble logs and corrects malfunction of instruments. - Troubleshoot the Mark 5 and 6e control equipment and various control systems utilized within the power plant. - Troubleshoot and repair issues within the baily Infi 90 DCS control system. - Conduct troubleshooting on closed loop and open loop control system related to water, steam, diesel and liquid propane fuel (LPG). - Assists employees of equal or higher classification in carrying out work assignments. - Takes flue gas analysis reading and other tests readings; repairs and replaces ruptures or broken pneumatic lines. : - Good knowledge of layout, construction, functions and operation of all plant instrument and maintenance work. - Sound knowledge of the tools and equipment and their use as required in the work. - Knowledge of electronic instrumentation and control loops and equipment and their skilled use as required in the work. - Knowledge of practical and efficient methods of instrument and controls repair and maintenance work. - Ability to read, interpret and work from moderately complex blueprints and specifications. - Ability to independently perform work assignments. - Ability to use a variety of tools and testing equipment used in the work. - Ability to work from moderately high distances observing all safety rules and precautions. - Ability to operate and utilize personal computers and related peripherals. : Associate of Science degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology, or high school diploma or GED equivalent including or supplemented by courses in physics or the electrical trades and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of pneumatic, electrical and mechanical instruments and remote control equipment, three of which must have been as an Instrument Technician 2nd Class.
