Job Summary

The Forensic Mental Health Program is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As the Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for providing accurate results for all tests ordered by medical staff. The laboratory is accredited by Joint Commission and is deemed moderately complex by CLIA.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing procedures in-house with accuracy and precision or send specimens to a reference laboratory.

  • Perform venipunctures using standard precautions and required safety devices.

  • Perform testing and enter results through the Orchard Laboratory Information System.

  • Maintain effective communication with medical practitioners, nursing, and unit personnel.

  • Keep current on laboratory procedures, quality assurance, instrument maintenance and safety.

  • Perform Electrocardiograms.

Minimum Qualifications

Certification or accreditation as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technician by one of the following organizations:

  • NCA National Certification Agency

  • ASCP American Society of Clinical Pathologists

  • American Medical Technologists

AND

1 year laboratory experience demonstrating knowledge of clinical procedures used in applicable medical technology, laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and terminology.
