This position will provide support and technical assistance to the Operations and Quality Assurance units of the laboratory. This includes coordinating activities to assist in the development and implementation of policy, standards and program performance of critical elements associated with the laboratory’s accreditation to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. This position will serve as a scientific buyer, and to assist in establishing procedures for the purchase of a variety of specialized materials, supplies and equipment.
This position will be located in St. Paul at the MDA/MDH Laboratory and will be fulltime in the office.
Minimum Qualifications
To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Six (6) months of experience working in a laboratory setting. An Associate’s degree or higher in a scientific field may substitute for experience.
Working knowledge of database management programs.
Working knowledge of quality assurance principles.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to establish work priorities and routines to effectively accomplish responsibilities.
Expertise in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
Experience purchasing goods and services for an organization.
Experience using SWIFT (Statewide Integrated Financial Tools).
Experience with Purchasing Databases (ex: Quartzy or Labcloud Inc.).
Experience with Quality Management Systems (ex: Mastercontrol).
System administration experience of database management programs.
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time when receiving supplies, lift up to 50 lbs., and position self to move/transport supplies to analytical units and storage locations. The position must possess physical dexterity that allows standing, bending, kneeling and stretching when moving supplies and samples.
This position exists in an analytical laboratory. As such, all potential safety hazards associated with this type of environment are assumed to be present. Hazards such as chemical exposure, hot surfaces, compressed gases and mechanical hazards exist in this section. This position must be comfortable working around these hazards and have sufficient knowledge to recognize and prevent harm to themselves or others. This position must be able to function in this environment and must be comfortable wearing personal protective gear.
Additional Requirements
