The Minnesota Department of Reentry Services Unit, Community Stability Team works to establish partnerships and resources around the state to improve outcomes for criminal justice impacted persons. Within this unit, the Housing Coordinator aids local communities for housing supervision clients who do not have stable housing. This full-time, permanent position will co-coordinate and manage the DOC Leased Residences ; serve as a resource to corrections professionals to mitigate homelessness and housing instability; serve as a conduit to DOC rental assistance resources; and develops and maintains partnerships with community resources that provide housing services. The overall purpose of this position is to ensure that individuals released from incarceration and/or on correctional supervision who have high barriers to housing stability are connected with interventions to support stable housing where they can be effectively supervised, so that public safety is served .
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Three (3) years of experience providing direct services in reentry planning of incarcerated persons and/or community supervision. A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or similar field with an emphasis in Corrections/Criminal Justice may substitute for 1 year of experience. A Master's degree in an above listed field may substitute for 18 months of experience.
In addition to the above, applicants who meet the experience requirements above will be further assessed for the following:
Knowledge of evidence-based practices.
Knowledge of the housing industry, housing opportunities, and restrictions in communities served.
Skills in developing collaborative relationships and effectively communicating with a variety of stakeholders and partners.
Ability to develop relationships between units of government, community service brokers, law enforcement, and local corrections.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
Completion of a degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Law, Law Enforcement, Social Work, Sociology, or a Human Services related field with emphasis in corrections or criminal justice.
Knowledge of strategies to mitigate homelessness and supporting housing stabilization for justice-impacted people.
Experience in applying DOC release planning policies sufficient to advise others on appropriate interpretation and course of action.
Knowledge of business practices related to management, contracts, procurement supply, and fiscal management.
Knowledge of data collection practices utilized by corrections across State of Minnesota correctional delivery systems.
Ability to collect, report and analyze homelessness and housing stability related data.
Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
