The Executive Pathways Program is a paid summer internship (June – August) for college students to explore a rewarding career in public service.

This position is eligible for telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework.

The HR Project Intern will focus on helping make HR processes easier to understand for employees and leaders. While HR policies and forms already exist, many people need clearer examples and step-by-step guidance on how to complete forms and follow HR processes correctly. As an intern, you will support HR project work by creating easy-to-use resources such as short instructional videos, sample complete forms, and simple how-to guides. These materials will help employees better understand HR topics and feel more confident using HR tools and processes. This is a great opportunity to build skills in communication, project support, and digital resource development while learning how HR works in a large organization.

Some responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support HR projects by creating clear, user-friendly resources

  • Help develop how-to guides, sample forms, and short instructional videos

  • Organize and update HR documentation

  • Work with HR staff to gather information and feedback

  • Assist with improving HR processes and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for an internship, you must meet the following requirements:

You must be a student at an accredited educational institution; or recently graduated December 2025 or May 2026

AND

  • Excellent human relation and communication skills sufficient to represent the position and Division in a professional, efficient, and clear manner

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred majors include: Human Resource Management/Development, Business administration, Instructional technology, Digital Media, Communications, etc.

  • Accessibility concepts knowledge or awareness.

  • Experience with SnagIt.

  • The ability to organize information into a digestible format.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills.Ability to learn technical skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be in academic years of sophomore, junior, or senior (Graduate students allowed)

  • Must provide unofficial transcript to show proof of school enrollment

  • Must be willing to reside in Minnesota for the duration of internship

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check
